Shani Dev is the son of Sun God (Surya) and his wife Chhaya. Planet Saturn is an embodiment of Shani Dev, and Saturday is the specific day in the week associated with the lord.

When Parvati, Shiva’s consort, gave birth to Ganesh, she distributed sweets to Shiva’s ganas, – the hosts. The goddess Parvati asked Shani to see and bless the child. Shani kept his head down and sought forgiveness from seeing the child, pleading that his gaze is inauspicious.

Parvati, being the great Lord’s consort took no notice of this and asked him to bless the newborn. As soon as Shani lifted his head and looked at the child, the newborn’s head got blown.

As a God, Saturn is black in colour, short in stature and lame because of injured legs. Shani is the son of Surya and Chhaya, the Shadow Goddess. Manu and Yama are his brothers.

Shani’s vehicle is a vulture. Shani is the ruler of our destinies and keeps an eye on our deeds and depending on our Karmas we will be rewarded or punished by Shani.

From 4^th house, we can determine the learning capability of the native and also the emotional attachments.If Venus and Mercury are placed in the 4th house, it gives interest in government and politics.
